Mission to examine the northern lights and solar wind set to launch next year

The European Space Agency has secured a launch plan for its first-ever joint space science mission with China.

The Solar Wind Magnetosphere Ionosphere Link Explorer mission, or Smile, is the first space science mission that Esa and China will have jointly selected, designed, implemented, launched and operated, Esa said as it announced the launch information on 30 April.
