Study proposes options for EU-wide publication rights

EU considers policies to grant researchers the right to republish their articles with open access

A study for the European Commission has proposed options for an EU-wide policy to give researchers the right to republish their papers in open-access repositories.

In recent years, several EU member states have adopted Secondary Publication Rights policies, which allow researchers to share their articles in open-access repositories alongside the initial publication in journals, even if those journals have a subscription model. These SPR policies aim to promote access to the results of publicly funded research.
