Launch of Destination Earth described as “game changer” in fight against climate change

The European Commission has switched on a €315 million digital model of the Earth that is intended to boost research on climate change.

Activated on 10 June, Destination Earth will use Europe’s high-performance supercomputers, including the Lumi supercomputer in Finland, to simulate the effects of climate change and extreme weather events.
