Major European research infrastructures ‘at a crossroads’

Facilities and services face challenges around sustainability and careers, report says

Major European research infrastructures are threatened by competing demands and are facing a decision point, according to a new report.

The European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures, which advises policymakers on which facilities and services to support, said in its report published on 4 June that infrastructures are “at a transformative crossroads, marked by rapid technological advancements, evolving governance dynamics, and pressing societal challenges while facing constrained budgets”.
