The European Commission is highlighting the opportunity for small and medium-sized businesses to receive €10,000 to assist the development of digital technologies, ahead of the release of more details of a formal initiative.
The initiative, announced in July, will be used to allocate money from the EU Structural Funds to SMEs. Local authorities will distribute the vouchers to businesses, who will then be able to redeem them against ICT services including the evaluation of processes and product design and R&D demonstration, as well as basic ICT services.
In its latest announcement, the Commission says it plans to release a blueprint to help regions successfully allocate the vouchers to recipients, as part of the 11th Week for Regions and Cities. A pilot scheme will also be undertaken in the Murcia and Extremadura regions of Spain, which other countries can learn from, says the Commission.
