Anne Glover, chief scientific adviser for the European Commission, has said that ethics standards would help improve the trust in industry, Euractiv has reported.
The CSA said she has observed a lot of suspicion about industry’s scientific activities, Euractiv said in an article. Glover said that people are suspicious because industry is motivated by profit, but that the issue needs to be addressed because industry plays an important role in science.
“I mention this because we have an EU group on ethics for science and new technology, comprising one-third scientists, one-third theologians and one-third lawyers. Why is it that science needs ethics but business does not?,” Glover is quoted as saying.
