The European Patent Office has selected 15 scientists and engineers out of 160 applicants to the European Inventor Award 2013.
The shortlist includes three inventors in each of the five award categories: industry, research, small businesses, non-European countries and lifetime achievement. All of their inventions are protected by a European patent.
In addition, the general public can cast a vote to select the winner of the popular prize among all finalists.
