Dutch SME wins climate innovation prize

A Netherlands-based start-up company called aQysta has been given the title of most innovative European company in the field of clean technology by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology's climate branch.

The jury chose aQysta over 17 other finalists for its hydro-powered floating irrigation system, with which the company aims to multiply crop productivity and move away from systems powered by fossil fuels. 

The company, based on Delft, was founded by three engineers from the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, according to the EIT’s climate Knowledge and Innovation Community. aQysta is aiming to sell its irrigation systems to farmers in rural communities and developing countries.
