Cern supports innovative projects

Cern has opened a building dedicated to bringing researchers and industry together to share ideas.

The IdeaSquare building was inaugurated on 9 December in the presence of the Cern council. The building is named after the IdeaSquare project which aims to bring students, businesses, researchers and engineers together to help them exchange experiences and foster innovation.

The building will be used for projects needing office space and to create networking opportunities, according to Cern. Markus Nordberg, head of resources development at Cern said the IdeaSquare project’s scope was to encourage “ideas that are useful for society, inspired by Cern’s on-going detector R&D and upgrade projects".
