Defence funding guide launched

The European Defence Agency has launched a web platform to inform researchers about potential sources of support from the EU's structural funds.

The web platform, which the EDA launched on 19 June, is intended to provide academics, research and technology organisations and industry with information on structural fund calls, and contact details for relevant managing authorities. Its launch follows a proposal put forward by the European Commission on 7 June to boost EU spending on defence research and innovation in the coming years.

EU structural funds comprise five instruments that together disperse more than €450 billion euros, with national governments providing an additional €180 billion. Some of the funding is dedicated for research and innovation, and it can also be used to support defence investment projects and the modernisation of defence supply chains.
