Commission signs research deal with Japan

The European Commission's Joint Research Centre and a Japanese science institute have signed a pact to increase bilateral scientific collaboration.

The agreement, which was signed 31 May in Brussels, will formalise existing cooperation between the JRC and the Japanese National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in the fields of nanotechnology, chemicals, metrology and energy.

AIST is one of the largest national research organisations in Japan. Its role is to help bring research-based innovations to market.
