Cern forges closer ties with Slovenia

Slovenia has become an associate member at Cern, the European Organization for Nuclear Research.

Cern announced the country’s associate membership on 4 July. The association is a step on the path to full membership status, and follows an official notification from Slovenia that it has completed the internal government approval process for an agreement signed in December 2016.

Two other countries, Cyprus and Serbia, are also on the path to full membership, which takes five years. India, Pakistan, Turkey and Ukraine are associate members not on this path.
