Ten cities have reached the final round in an EU contest for the most innovative approach to boosting the quality of life.
The city that has used innovation in the best way to experiment with concepts, governance models and citizen engagement will be awarded the €1-million European Capital of Innovation Award 2017.
This year, the award has seen 32 cities from 17 countries compete to succeed Amsterdam as the innovation capital. The finalists are Aarhus, Berlin, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Nice, Paris, Tallinn, Tampere, Tel Aviv and Toulouse. Two runners-up will receive a prize of €100,000 each, the European Commission said in a statement on 29 August.
