Forum to boost renewable energy on islands

Policymakers, academics and environmental groups will take part in a forum to discuss ways to improve renewable energy production on the EU’s islands.

The inaugural Clean Energy for All European Islands forum will be held on 22 September in Chania, Crete. Participants will discuss best practices and present energy projects. There will also be sessions on reducing carbon emissions on the EU’s islands and funding such projects, the European Commission said on 22 August.

Speakers at the event include Alexis Tsipras, Greece’s prime minister; Miguel Arias Cañete, the EU’s climate commissioner; and Dominique Ristori, the Commission’s director-general for energy.
