The EU should provide more support for energy research and innovation, a draft report from the European Parliament has said.
Clean energy R&D “crucially depends on predictability and certainty”, including a policy vision, targeted incentives and long-term investment, the report published by the Parliament’s Committee on Industry, Research and Energy said on 19 September.
The proportion of financing devoted to energy-related projects should therefore be increased by half in the next EU Framework programme, the report said. This should be in the context of a similarly increased budget for Framework 9 overall, it stressed.
