Transport research tool rolled out

A tool mapping the innovation capacities of European transport systems has been launched by the Joint Research Centre, the European Commission’s science service.

The tool, called the Transport Research and Innovation Monitoring and Information System, or Trimis, is intended to help policymakers, government authorities, research organisations, industry and financial services identify the most promising transport-related innovations. At its core is an open-access database of projects, programmes, technologies and other initiatives.

Trimis will support researchers and policymakers in identifying the areas where public investment can create the highest added value, the Commission announced on 19 September. It is also intended to help monitor the effectiveness of EU or government-funded research projects in contributing to creating a “clean, connected and competitive” transport system.
