The European Commission has published a list of members for the European Processor Initiative, a consortium to develop microprocessors for supercomputers.
The initiative aims to co-design, develop and deliver to market European low-power microprocessors, with the ultimate goal of building a European supercomputer with indigenous microchips.
It will be made up of 23 partners from 10 European countries, including researchers from the supercomputing community, representatives from the digital industries and potential users. The initiative is expected to create chips that will be used in areas such as autonomous vehicles and data centres.
