Portal to open up access to AI

An EU-funded project to build a platform that will facilitate access to artificial intelligence tools is underway.

The AI4EU project was launched this month, with a first meeting of the partners on 10 January. The project brings together 79 research institutes and companies in 21 countries to “build a focal point for AI resources, including data repositories, computing power, tools and algorithms”, according to the European Commission.

Digital commissioner Mariya Gabriel said the project would help small businesses, companies not specialised in technology and public administrations to access AI tools. “Europe can only reap the full benefits of AI innovations if this technology is easily usable by all,” she said.
