European companies win €3.2bn for battery research

Seven member states on board for ‘first truly pan-European battery consortium’

The European Commission has announced that up to €3.2 billion will be channelled to seventeen companies over the next decade for research into batteries.

Maroš Šefčovič, the European Commission’s vice president for interinstitutional relations and foresight, called the initiative “a first truly pan-European battery consortium”.
