Europe needs to spend more on artificial intelligence, create better collaboration between academia and industry and improve the training of its workforce, EU research ministers have agreed.
Ministers meeting as the Competitiveness Council on 18 February adopted conclusions on a coordinated plan on the development and use of AI in Europe.
The agreement underlined “the crucial importance of fostering the development and use of AI in Europe” by increasing investment and “strengthening research and innovation collaboration between industry and academia on AI, in order to transfer quickly and efficiently new results and insights” from research to industry and society.
