Negotiators have come closer to agreeing the design of the EU’s 2021-27 space R&D programme, the European Commission has said—in contrast to a European Parliament group, which said the deal was done.
“Significant progress” on the space programme was made on the evening of 26 February, the Commission said in a midday press release the following day. But it added: “The Commission however expressed strong reservations on a number of important institutional issues.”
The centre-right European People’s Party group, which is the largest group in the European Parliament, had earlier on 27 February announced the “successful conclusion of negotiations” with member states in the Council of the EU.
