National government representatives have confirmed they are happy with a partial deal struck by negotiators on the EU’s planned 2021-27 digital innovation programme.
Representatives in the Council of the EU approved the partial deal on Digital Europe on 13 March. Outstanding issues now include the programme’s budget and links to other EU initiatives.
Representing the Council, Romania’s minister for communications Alexandru Petrescu said that Digital Europe would help EU businesses benefit from progress in digital technologies. He said it would “foster greater professionalism taking into account gender balance, especially with regard to high performance and cloud computing, big data analytics and cybersecurity”.
