A meeting of innovators based in and around the Mediterranean has endorsed a set of policy recommendations for boosting innovation in the region.
The 12 recommendations emerged from the EU Med means Business event, which took place in Brussels on 21 and 22 May, and have been presented to the European commissioner for neighbourhood policy, Johannes Hahn.
To attract investment to the Mediterranean and create supportive frameworks for entrepreneurship in the region, policymakers should set up public-private partnerships, test experimental legislation such as decentralised decision-making, encourage innovative education and tax companies according to their size, according to the recommendations from the event participants.
