Regional innovation programmes ‘should work together better’

EU funding for regions and innovation communities overlaps in ends and means, researchers note

The EU could get more out of its regional innovation funding schemes by making them work better together, researchers at EU institutions have concluded.

Nida Kamil Özbolat and Karel Haegeman of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) evidence service, and Katerina Sereti of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), looked at possibilities for improving cooperation between EIT funding for knowledge and innovation communities and EU regional cohesion funding.
