European R&D is lacking in many emerging technology areas, Joint Research Centre finds
Policymakers must do more to bolster European R&D in many emerging technology fields, according to the European Commission’s in-house evidence service the Joint Research Centre.
Geraldine Joanny, a JRC data scientist, and her colleagues evaluated Europe’s R&D performance in 256 emerging technology fields previously identified by the JRC, from neuroscience to microgrid energy networks. They found vulnerabilities in 179 areas.
