Europe’s former defence chief leaves an agency still defining its place

 As point-man at the European Defence Agency for the past five years, Jorge Domecq has helped marshal the continent’s military activities away from independent national execution towards a more synchronised EU march forward.

This trajectory is due to ramp up in 2021, after weathering the turbulence of political opposition largely unscathed—when a minority of MEPs failed in their mission to preserve EU funding for non-military purposes.
