Applications for European patents covering digital communications grew almost 20 per cent in 2019
The volume of applications for European patents covering digital technologies grew more than for any other top technical field in 2019, the European Patent Office has revealed.
Applications for patents in digital communication, including 5G, grew 19.6 per cent, while applications for computer technology rose 10.2 per cent, according to the 2019 EPO patent index.
