The European Innovation Council’s first programme manager on finding researchers’ inner entrepreneurs
The first ever programme manager for the European Innovation Council, the EU’s fledgling flagship funder of tech-based businesses, says now is “the right time” to convince reluctant researchers to think about technology development.
“Due to the coronavirus crisis, people have learned about companies called CureVac and Moderna,” Iordanis Arzimanoglou (pictured) tells Research Europe in early July, just over a month into his EIC role. “They are developing vaccines using a new genetic technology platform; people now will understand how important it was that this platform was previously developed.”
