EU agrees new rules and strategy for innovation agency

Deal on European Institute of Innovation and Technology ‘brings financial sustainability’, says MEP

EU negotiators have provisionally agreed on the 2021-27 rules and strategy of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, which funds knowledge exchange and capacity building among networks of research, innovation and higher education organisations. These Knowledge and Innovation Communities are focused on topics such as climate change and health.

The agreement reached by the European Parliament and Council of the EU on 28 January “brings financial sustainability to the institute and all its KICs”, said MEP Maria da Graça Carvalho, the Parliament’s lead negotiator.
