Move means countries can begin to receive money earmarked for activities including research and innovation
Estonia, Finland and Romania have had plans for their share of the EU’s €750 billion Covid-19 recovery fund approved, paving the way for the European Commission to pay them the first 13 per cent of their funds.
The fund supports reforms and investments to stimulate the economies of EU member states, with about €52.4bn distributed so far. It prioritises green and digital activities, but many countries are also choosing to support research, innovation and education.
