Gabriel praises innovation ideas from ‘unicorn’ leaders

R&D commissioner welcomes leaders’ “milestone” report, saying European support for innovation must change

EU R&D commissioner Mariya Gabriel has said the European Commission will analyse a set of proposals for supporting innovation provided by the heads of 33 ‘unicorn’ companies (with valuations over $1 billion), adding that European support for innovation has to change.

The proposals, handed over by the EU Unicorns group on 19 April, include four “main directions” for European innovation support and eight “ambitious flagship” initiatives to provide a push in those directions.
