EU ‘knowledge centre’ hopes to link up cancer research

Commission says Centre on Cancer can connect EU funding initiatives and help fight against disease

The European Commission has expressed a hope that its Knowledge Centre on Cancer can bring together experts and policymakers and better link up existing EU initiatives fighting the disease.

Launched on 30 June and overseen by the Commission’s in-house evidence service, the Joint Research Centre, the initiative is designed to provide independent scientific coordination and support of EU work on cancer. EU health commissioner Stella Kyriakides said it would be crucial to EU efforts to make sure the latest findings from research and innovation were widely shared.
