Commission’s top R&D official says underlying complexity responsible for issues at European Innovation Council
The European Commission’s top research and innovation official has insisted that problems which have plagued the European Innovation Council’s first full year will be resolved in the coming months.
Since the EIC launched in full under the EU’s 2021-27 R&I programme, Horizon Europe, the Commission has struggled to provide research-intensive companies with the equity-based investments it was supposed to deliver. Some companies have waited nearly a year for promised cash, and only one investment has so far been finalised.
