Horizon Europe budget should be at least €120 billion, business group says

The EU should increase the budget of its research and innovation programme due to increased competition from China, the industry lobby group Business Europe has urged.

In a report published on 19 July, the group said the budget of the Horizon Europe programme should be increased from €95.5 billion to €120bn, as “anything below is considered neither sufficient to address the EU’s innovation deficit, nor for competing with other third countries such as China”.
