European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations urges more policy support for precision oncology

Interdisciplinary collaboration will be crucial for European cancer research in the future, an industry group has stressed in a statement expressing concern that Europe could lose touch with oncology’s cutting edge.

The push for interdisciplinarity from the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations came as part of a vision statement on the future of cancer treatment in Europe that Efpia published on 16 January. It put a particular focus on precision oncology, in which treatments are much more highly tailored to a patient’s specific needs thanks to advances in technologies such as genetic sequencing.
