EU launches call to progress small nuclear reactors

Members sought for industry alliance to help deploy reactors by early 2030s

The European Commission is seeking members to join an industry alliance to help bring about the use of small nuclear reactors in the EU by the early 2030s.

Launched on 9 February as part of the bloc’s overall climate ambitions, the European Industrial Alliance on Small Modular Reactors is aimed at vendors, utilities, specialised nuclear companies, financial institutions, research organisations and other groups.
