Commission president: ‘EU must invest more in fusion research’

Investment should include public-private partnerships, says Ursula von der Leyen

The EU must invest more in fusion technology and research to meet the energy needs of the future, European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen has said.

Greater investment should be made into young fusion technology companies and the bloc should promote public-private research partnerships in the area, she said at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics in Germany on 11 April.
