Registrar Fergus McCarthy of Cork University Maternity Hospital has won the annual William Stokes Award presented by the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland for exemplary standards of research by specialist registrars.
McCarthy is an obstetric and gynaecological specialist registrar at the maternity hospital but is also a PhD student at University College Cork. His research is into pre-eclampsia.
