There has been a strong welcome in Ireland for the European Commission’s proposals under the Horizon 2020 programme, which replaces FP7.
Commission officials envisage a seven-year budget worth €80 billion, and Irish researchers are optimistic about adding to the €330 million they have won in EU research funding in support of about 1,000 projects.
