Demand for places in science, engineering and technology courses at Irish universities and institutes of technology remains strong, according to the Central Applications Office, which oversees student applications for degree and higher certificate courses.
There were 17,000 applications for science subjects, engineering and technology courses out of 75,874 applications overall, according to statistics released by the CAO.
