Sugars research nets €3m for Galway

The glycoscience group at National University of Ireland Galway won research contracts worth more than €3 million during 2011 and continues to expand research activities in the food, medical diagnostics and gut microbiology areas, according to the group’s director.

Prof Lokesh Joshi highlighted the group’s success in winning research contacts in a statement issued on 21 December. The funding had opened up research posts, with applications remaining open until 5 January 2012. Support for its work comes from Science Foundation Ireland and Enterprise Ireland. It maintains important research links with food research body Teagasc.
