Internet enterprise could contribute €6 billion to the economy by 2016 and represent six per cent of GDP, according to a report on Ireland’s digital future.
Released on 15 November, ‘Ireland’s Digital Future’ is bullish about the likely contribution of the online sector. It describes the Irish as “digital optimists” who are positive about new services on the internet, and suggests that 2.6 million Irish shoppers will be using online services by 2016. Expansion of services could create 18,000 jobs, it says.
