Deal will see up to 1,500 Brazilian students in Ireland

A deal agreed between Brazil and Ireland will see 1,500 Brazilian students over the next four years receiving scholarships to study and conduct research in higher education institutions across Ireland.

The agreement allows Ireland to access Brazil’s Science Without Borders Programme and was signed on 21 June by environment minister Phil Hogan while attending the United Nations Rio+20 sustainable development conference in Rio de Janeiro. This number of students could contribute €25 million to the Irish economy in fees and living expenses, Hogan said.
