Galway joins marine biomaterials research effort

National University of Ireland Galway has joined the EU-funded Marmed project, aimed at discovering and exploiting marine resources useful for the biomedical industry.

The university’s Irish Seaweed Research Group and the Network of Excellence for Functional Biomaterials will receive €500,000 over the next two years from an overall Marmed budget worth €2 million, it announced on 28 January.
