Ministerial council told of serious ICT skills gap

The EU information technology skills gap means there could be up to 700,000 unfilled vacancies across the community by 2015, a meeting of employment ministers has heard.

Ireland’s jobs minister, Richard Bruton, highlighted the skills gap during a two-day meeting of employment ministers in Dublin on 8 February. Job growth in the IT sector was forecast to run at 7.6 per cent over the coming decade, he said.
