Minister for research Sean Sherlock announced a €1-million fund to encourage researchers and companies to build science and innovation cooperation between Ireland and China, on 7 March, together with China’s ambassador to Ireland Luo Linquan.
China has already organised matching support with funds either obtained or pledged, following a Memorandum of Understanding signed last year. Ireland’s contribution will be provided under Science Foundation Ireland’s International Strategic Cooperation Award Programme and will focus on areas including agri-food, nanotechnology, biomedical (diagnostics & therapeutics); ICT and health.
