Energy efficiency fund seeded with €35m

Ireland’s government has launched a plan to create a €70-million energy-efficiency fund to provide project lending for energy-saving works.

Details were released on 28 February, when minister for energy Pat Rabbitte said the fund could deliver annual energy savings worth €250m in the public sector alone. He added the hope that the plan would create 5,000 jobs and ensure advanced technology helped to reduce the state’s energy expenditure.
