Companies flock to Kildare commercialisation event

Almost 200 companies took part in a research commercialisation event involving the National University of Ireland Maynooth and three institutes of technology in Athlone, Carlow and Waterford.

Held at Carton House, in County Kildare, on 10 April, the event sought to build connections between business and academic researchers, according to John Scanlan, director of commercialisation at NUI Maynooth. The links between academics and industry have never been stronger and exploitation of research discoveries has significant job creation potential, he added. Maynooth has about 50 active research collaborations with industry.
