Shane Bergin of Trinity College Dublin has received a Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions achievement award for his work on communicating science to the general public and mentoring the next generation of scientists.
The award was made on 18 November at an EU conference in Trento, under the Italian presidency. He developed the idea to place posters at commuter train stops pointing out the importance of physics in daily life.
He is based in the university’s school of physics and the nanoscience institute Crann.
