University innovation cluster plans to double in size

Dublin City University’s innovation cluster DCU Alpha has announced plans for a major expansion in its activities in the next three years, including doubling the number of jobs at the site.

The university announced its plan for growth on 9 December. It has attracted 30 companies who employ a total of about 350 people, all in the technology area. It now plans to increase this to 100 companies and 800 employees by 2018.

It also announced that Irish company Neosfar—which provides Internet-of-Things hardware and services—was moving into the cluster, along with NIIT Technologies, an Indian software company.
